The Saint David's community gathers for worship at 9:30 AM every Sunday
to sing, listen to readings from the Bible, hear a sermon, pray, offer the blessing of God's Peace to one another, and celebrate the Lord's Supper with wine and home-baked bread.
There's Children's Church for the younger set, and children are always welcome to bring quiet toys and books.
Wednesdays at 7 PM
a smaller group gathers for the Lord's Supper and quiet talk.
At both these services, we're saving a seat for you. Come and visit!

Who We Are - Community Life at Saint David's
"By this, all people will know that you are my disciples, that you have love for one another." (John 13)
Saint David's gathers every Sunday as a community to worship, to offer hospitality to one another and to celebrate our friendship in Christ. We DO and BE the Gospel by serving others, by worshiping together, by the ministry of prayer, and by taking joy in one another.
Our shared parish meals are memorable and generous. Preparing for holidays, caring for our garden, even cleaning the church - these are shared activities. There's a good deal of laughter mixed in with the work. Here we are at an annual Homecoming Picnic.

Worship and Music
Sunday mornings are good times. Our worship is informal and ordered, lively and dignified, expressing ancient forms in modern language and including both traditional and contemporary music. Like most churches, we pray, we sing, we read from the Bible, we hear sermons, we are quiet for reflection.
Most of our services include Holy Communion, also called the Lord's Supper or Holy Eucharist, when we share bread and wine. All baptized persons, whatever your background or denomination in the church, are welcome to receive the bread and wine, just as Jesus welcomed all who came to him.
During the sermon, children get together with two leaders for Children's Church. We're comfortable with having children worship with us. They help us make a joyful noise to the Lord. Art supplies, books and toys are in the entry.
Children at St. David's can been seen and heard
as participants in the life and worship of this community.
We think that they see this church as a safe, warm, friendly place where they
are loved and welcomed.

Our choir is active year-round and we welcome new singers! We are blessed with the only pipe organ in Brown County, and our worship music also includes flutes, drums, and guitar.
Each holiday brings special services - Maundy Thursday footwashing, quiet reflection on Good Friday, the candlelit mystery of Christmas Eve and the Easter Vigil, and the joyous Easter feast.

Growing in Faith
At Saint David's, we affirm that we all have ways to
grow - in compassion, in insight, in skill, and in faith. We've gotten together
to study at Bible studies, after-church forums, Lenten study series,
and book discussions.
Seekers' classes and individual preparation for
Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Matrimony are offered when they are
needed.

Our Staff

The Reverend Donald Jones,
our interim Rector, started his term with us on January 1, 2010 - but he is an old friend to this parish and has worshiped with us or served as supply clergy many times. Don lives in Bloomington and before his retirement was Rector of Trinity Episcopal Church, Bloomington. Don is a graduate of Beloit College and the Church Divinity School of the Pacific and has served churches in Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin. |
Joe Ridenour, our choir director, is a
part-time pastor in the Disciples of Christ and seems to spend all the
rest of his time visiting family or making music. He is a composer,
arranger, conductor, singer, and instrumentalist, and he's somebody who
knows how to keep the "ministry" in "music ministry." Our choir rehearses every Sunday at 8:30 AM and if you show up ready to sing, Joe will be glad to have you.

Our organist, Jennie Lawrence,
comes to us with extraordinary depth and range of experience as an accompanist and church musician. Jennie holds the Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from the Jacobs School of Music and has sixteen years of experience as a church organist. She accompanied the Bloomington Chamber Singers for fifteen years and also has experience directing choral and instrumental ensembles. She is the director of the Brown County Art Guild. Jennie is a fine addition to our parish tradition of
wonderful musicians.
